The Razer Barracuda Pro is a do-it-all audio device marketed to get the attention of gaming headset enthusiasts. Razer is usually known for its expensive RGB-lit products. The Barracuda Pro is encased in a black plastic shell and comes in a cheap gaming headset. The Barracuda Pro feels like a lifestyle headset first and a fine second gaming device.
The Razer Barracuda Pro is designed almost entirely in plastic, so it’s so light at around 0.75 pounds. Because it is simple and light, this headset is very comfortable to wear for hours to listen to music or play games. But not as usual, because Razer is known for its premium products, while the Barracuda Pro looks very boring. It is also easy to leave fingerprints on the plastic part that wraps but easy to clean. The build looks sturdy and also looks a bit elegant in black. The earmuffs, padded with faux leather foam padded and padded headband, provide a good balance between comfort and sufficient clamping of the internal bands to keep the headset from moving.
The Razer Barracuda Pro on the left side of the cover is equipped with a USB-C charging port on the bottom. The power button on the back does quite a bit of work, serving as a pause button for media if you press it briefly and a pairing button if you hold it down after turning on the headset. Double-pressing the power button rejects or swaps calls and skips to the next track. Three presses go to the previous track. The headset will also turn itself off after 15 minutes with no sound flowing through it, but no proximity sensor pauses the audio when you remove the headset.
Software and Battery
The Razer Barracuda Pro headset delivers powerful bass without overpowering, which is great for gaming. For Synapse software, the company encourages you to choose THX Spatial Audio by default. That’s great for gaming but makes music sound hollow and crisp. This headset does a good job of blocking things like engine and engine noise, which helps enjoy music, and hearing people on the phone is a bit noisy environment.
Razer claims the Barracuda pro has a battery life of up to 40 hours. It’s pretty good and sounds a bit overwhelming, but if you’re content with sticking around like this, you can enjoy it for a long time. This headset also comes with a very good noise cancellation feature. This long battery life makes Razer quite conservative, and also, the meter at Synapse takes a charge cycle or two before it’s very accurate.
