Razer has had some success in the gaming audio space, but mostly with headsets. The Leviathan is Razer’s first sound bar. With a small design, small enough to work under your monitor and your HDTV, with an elegant matte black finish that includes a wired subwoofer and Bluetooth connectivity.

Razer Leviathan Sound Bar

The Razer Leviathan is small compared to almost any home theater sound bar on the market, which measures 19.6 x 4 x 3 inches. It follows Razer’s dark, high-tech aesthetic, with the metallic black grille slightly pinched in the middle to give it extra contour. The layer can accommodate two 2.5-inch midrange drivers and two 0.75-inch tweeters, and each midrange/tweeter combination handles 15 watts of sustained power. The backlit control row sits above the company’s snake triskelion logo in the pinched part of the sound bar.

In addition to volume control and input selection, they include dedicated buttons for turning Dolby virtual surround on and off and switching between Game, Music, and Movie equalizer presets. The sound bar body is made of matte black plastic, tapering down towards the back panel. A recess on the bottom edge of the board houses the optical and 3.5mm audio input, power connector, and port for connecting the included subwoofer. The Leviathan comes with two sets of legs, one flat and one angled, which let it sit at an angle of 0, 15, or 18 degrees, depending on its use. You can also use the hole in the back of the sound bar to mount it on the wall.

The razer leviathan also has a small subwoofer and matte black. They look like giant keyboard keys, with rounded corners that taper upwards where the rest of the Razer logo is. Unfortunately, it’s not wireless like many of the subwoofers that come with sound bars, but it only requires one cable, which connects to the sound bar; it does not need its outlet. The subwoofer is equipped with a 30-watt, 5.25-inch downward-facing driver.

Razer Leviathan does not have a remote control, so connecting with your HDTV will be very complicated. The volume control buttons above the sound bar are the only way to adjust the sound to your liking. While you relax may be out of reach of hands while watching TV, that’s a problem. If the Leviathan has an HDMI connection or an IR sensor, you can customize it with your HDTV remote via HDMI-CEC or programmed remote commands. Unfortunately, the optical audio output is fixed, so you can’t even adjust the volume through your HDTV. You have to get up and press a button on the sound bar itself.
