Razer Leviathan V2 is a much-needed refresher for every PC gamer, making for the best audio experience ever. The Leviathan V2 offers a great soundscape at a reasonable price point, quickly making it one of the best computer speakers you can buy right now. It’s not without its faults, and the loss of the 3.5mm and optical input pretty much sends the Leviathan V2 to your PC for good, though it has Bluetooth connectivity, so you still have some flexibility. THX Spatial Audio is excellent, and the bass response from the subwoofer and soundbar is impressive. With a design that is longer than its predecessor, which allows the Leviathan V2 to be mounted on a passive radiator to extend its audio range, something you’ll feel when you’re playing the best PC games.

Design

The Razer Leviathan V2 has improved its quality over the previous iteration. As you would expect, the quality is excellent, and although almost everything is covered with plastic, it looks elegant. The soundbar is now slightly more profound than its predecessor, and the most significant design change is the move to a pure cube shape for the subwoofer instead of the semi cuboid V1.

The Leviathan V2’s legs also are swapped to tilt the soundbar up rather than straight up on the table. The front grill of the soundbar is made of solid plastic with the Razer logo stamped in the center. Overall, the soundbar fits comfortably on most monitors and, aside from the RGB lighting, is dangerous enough that it can easily blend into your desktop workspace. The subwoofer, meanwhile, is a very flashy plastic cube with a horn that fires to boost bass. It’s also much more significant and harder to hide unless you place it under your desk on the floor. Unfortunately, the subwoofer is wired, so it can’t be too far from the soundbar.

Features

The Razer Leviathan V2 has several new features, and it’s a fan favorite audio. THX Spatial Audio goes beyond essential stereo to create an experience that’s more like surround sound. It does the job reasonably well, but not the same as the Dolby Atmos you get in a home theater soundbar. It isn’t shocking, considering that the Leviathan V2 is significantly cheaper than the best soundbars that take full advantage of Dolby Atmos. Another key feature of the Leviathan V2 is the inclusion of 18-zone Chroma RGB lighting, controlled via Razer Synapse. In addition to using the Razer Visualizer for some fantastic music-based settings, you can also have gameplay-driven color effects. Working Leviathan V2 into your existing Chroma setup with other devices is also easy to control via Synapse, so the RGB customizer will have a lot more to play with here.

The Razer Leviathan V2 is a gamer’s soundbar, not an audiophile. While previous Leviathan models received 3.5mm audio and optical inputs, the Leviathan V2 ditched them for a single USB Type-C connection. While you can connect your phone or another Bluetooth-enabled device to the Leviathan, it’s nice to have but not the direction Razer takes for their new soundbar. This exception may disappoint many people, but it has always been designed to be a PC gamer soundbar, not a replacement for a home audio setup. Almost every gamer will have a USB Type-C port on their PC, maybe several, so, understandably, Razer would go this route.
