The Kraken V3 X is a gaming headset from Razer wired and closed, which generally uses a USB connection. The Kraken V3 X is best used on the PC platform. However, it can also be connected to a console, which uses generic USB audio. Having the name V3 might be a little weird. These headphones are the second cheaper version of the Kraken X. Maybe this is a hint that Razer will upgrade to the Kraken, with new, more significant drivers and new microphones.
Design and Features
The Kraken X is well designed, all covered with plastic. Maybe a little less impressive for its users. Each essential component is made of lightweight, lightweight plastic. This headset is not satisfactory in appearance because of its design. However, it does not cause any creaking during use. It’s not too attractive to wear, and the quality is entirely satisfactory. The use of matte on the headset is easy to scuff and scratch because of the rough surface.
The microphone is the best feature of the Kraken V3 X.. Sounds pretty good, with lots of sensitivity and great vocal notes. Unlike some other USB headsets, Razer’s Synapse software doesn’t have customization for the Kraken V3 X mic. Those features will go a long way, justifying the price here. The RGB lighting in the cup is bright enough and simple enough to control with Razer’s software. Without running the software, the default is primary spectrum cycle effects. The mute microphone button, and volume wheel, on the left earplug work fine.
The Razer Kraken V3 X is the first headset to use TriForce 40mm drivers. TriForce drivers first appeared in the BlackShark V2 lineup and later were installed in the Razer Kaira Pro. Both models sport an incredible-sounding 50mm TriForce driver variant, with deep bass, accurate mids, and high notes tuned, so they don’t cause fatigue over time. Here, all nuance is lost. The Kraken V3 X is a boomy and bass-heavy nightmare. It reminds me of early attempts at gaming headsets from nearly a decade ago when the powerful low end controlled the day for more detail.
The sound signature is bass, a few more basses, and then a little more bass to perfect it all. It’s not the worst gaming headset on the market, but every other Razer headset we’ve experienced sounds better over the last two years. The BlackShark V2 X performs the same boomy profile with more control and clarity, offering powerful and precise bass rather than damping out the midrange. The more oversized standard Kraken aluminum provides a better stage feel and more detail throughout the signature.
