The Razer Basilisk is one of those mice that stands out with its pretty decent customization options. When you play games with the sensitivity setting or RGB lighting, the design is sleek and fits most people, but small hands may have difficulty reaching the side sniper button. It’s not a great travel option because of its size and cable, and not light enough for ultra-light gaming, but it’s an excellent choice for gamers looking for a mouse with good ergonomics and very low cable latency.

Design

Basilisk is designed similarly to other Razer products in that it is black, has a sleek shape, has two tiny center buttons, and has the Razer logo on the palm. While some Razer mice are symmetrical, most of them at least look pretty much the same. Razer designed it with tastefully restrained curves, and there are no protrusions. Basilisk emphasizes function rather than mouse form. Razer added a large thumb rest and a detachable clutch grip, right next to the thumb button.

The clutch’s addition is the most exciting part of the Razer Basilisk, although it can be considered because it will be the most controversial. The grip is not the most valuable part, as it is only for the thumb rest, which is one of the most satisfying I have encountered in a gaming mouse lately. Basilisk has a small button, which can activate sniper mode for lowering DPI. Basilisk isn’t the only mouse with this feature, but it’s the first to use a paddle instead of buttons.

Bottom Line

The Basilisk is the first mouse that Razer has made in a while that feels different. The Basilisk, when used for gaming, is very comfortable. Although there’s no denying that the clutch is an eyesore, it does what it’s supposed to and works more effectively than traditional sniper buttons. If the Basilisk represents what Razer can do while using his imagination, I’d love to see another genre that the next hardware veteran might tackle.
